About Datamail

Datamail

In 1988 the company was formed as a joint venture between New Zealand Post and Hermes Precisa Australia to manage the NZ on Air contract. Datamail expanded its service offering in 1989 to encompass document printing and mail processing services. In June 1992 New Zealand Post purchased 100% of Datamail. Three years later Datamail acquired Hermes Precisa New Zealand, adding image scanning, document capture and storage capabilities to the document production services already offered.

Datamail Group

In 1999 Datamail purchased 40% (the shareholding has since been extended to 100%) of Communication Arts (CommArts), New Zealand's largest independent print production and management company, providing customers access to specialist experience in the field of traditional print design, production and supply chain management.

In 2004, Datamail acquired, in Australia, Outsource Australia (now Converga) and in New Zealand, Outsource Solutions Ltd (also now Converga). Each is the largest provider of outsourced office services on their respective side of the Tasman.

In July 2008 these companies were brought together under the Converga brand to form the specialist business processing outsourcing arm of the Datamail group.

In 2009 Communication Arts print management and procurement became part of the Converga offering and the design part of the business has now formed a new company known as YouXD, experience design with you in mind. The YouXD offering focuses on using customer insight to design user-friendly communications across all channels.

The Datamail Group comprises of Datamail, Converga New Zealand, Converga Australia, YouXD, Kinetic121 and employs approximately 1400 people with sales and processing sites in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.
